Romesh Gunaratnam, director, Product Management, is a recent addition to the Wealth Management Services team, where his current duties include designing enhancements for FundSERV® and DTCC Solutions’ Managed Accounts Service. In the future, he will take on further responsibilities, developing functionality to support emerging multi-asset products, such as the Unified Managed Account (UMA) and Unified Managed Household Account (UMHA).

Aligned with his growing position at DTCC, Romesh represents the organization’s interests on The Money Management Institute’s (MMI) Operations and Technology Committee, and he is active on a number of MMI subcommittees that develop industry data standards.

Romesh has nearly 14 years of experience in financial services, most recently with Morgan Stanley Global Wealth Management where he was a vice president. While there, he helped develop their nascent Unified Managed Account platform and later assumed the role to develop and lead their UMA Overlay Management Group. Before that, he worked with Citi’s Strategic Alliances Group, focusing on strategic integration of new technologies in the bank’s consumer and corporate businesses. During that time, he also graduated from Citi’s Global Management Association Program.

His international outlook was forged during the four years he lived and worked in China. He originally went there on a Shansi Memorial Fellowship to teach English at Yunnan University. He later joined a private equity group as a research analyst concentrating on Sino-foreign joint ventures.

Romesh holds a B.A. degree in English from Oberlin College and an honors MBA degree from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. In 2004 he completed the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Executive Program and received the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) Designation certificate. A rock-climbing enthusiast, Romesh says his favorite places to climb are the Shawangunk Ridge in New York, Red Rocks in Nevada and the north shore of Oahu.
